Element 1.3
Describe and apply motor development theory and principles related to skillful movement, physical activity, and fitness.
Artifact: Motor Development Lab 3
Date: Spring 2011
Reflection:
Motor Development lab 3 was to observe the motor skills of students at the CHAMP afterschool program. This artifact meets standard 1, to describe and apply motor development theories and principles because my task was to observe and then describe the motor skill of a young boy while he performed a run, a gallop, and a hop. The results of their performance enabled to me to recognize and critique their motor movements, and then apply the principles to determine where the students were at for skill development. This artifact is important to my development as a teacher because being able to describe and apply theory and principles related to skillful movement is important as it is the job of the educator to be able to break down, demonstrate and critique the elements of each skill movement. Having the ability to do this will allow me to give more specific and congruent feedback to students when in the future.
